One of the best tips for Instagram I can share with you is this –

Delete followers.

I know it sounds counterintuitive. But there’s a reason why this can be so beneficial!

Experts are saying that your content is only reaching anywhere from 2-10% of your total followers.

If you have a high number of followers that are completely unrelated to what you do… I’m talking crypto sales, fake retail companies looking for influencers, and other generally spammy accounts! It’s going to impact you in a negative way if they’re the only accounts within the 2% seeing your posts. They won’t interact with your content, nor will it generate you any business. They become a number in your follower count! And the less interaction (or engagement) your content has, the less it will be seen.

Let’s put some actual numbers in this scenario:

Let’s say you have 1000 followers. When you post a new image, it will be seen by roughly 2% – or 20 of your followers (a difference of 980). If you have 10,000 followers, a new image will be seen by roughly 200 of your followers (a difference of 9,800).

Which would you prefer –

10,000 followers, and 200 spammy accounts seeing your content?

OR

1000 followers, and 20 real people engaging with your content?

The second option? That’s what I thought! Me too!

It’s important to remember that as fun as it is to have thousands of followers… As glamorous as it may seem… It’s not really generating business for you. It may actually be hurting you in the long run. And I know you put so much time and creative energy into showing up consistently on social media! So I want you to get the most out of it!!

The next best tips for Instagram I can give you are this:

Create engaging content and show up for the followers who are there to support your business. It will take you much further than a high follower account – trust!
